Development Day Call for Speakers

The Association of Fundraising Professionals East Central Illinois Chapter (AFPECI) in partnership with Forefront is planning our first Central Illinois Development Day conference on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Parkland Community College. We hope that you will consider being a part of it!


The Development Day Committee is seeking proposals from potential presenters. Proposals should offer content that is practical, thought-provoking, interactive, and fits into one of the following topics: Board & Staff Relations, Strategic & Annual Planning, Storytelling, Marketing & Communications, Endowment Management & Gift Agreements, Technology in the Nonprofit Field or Career Development.

If you are interested in presenting at the 2019 Conference, please complete the online application and provide all requested materials by end of day on Friday, February 15, 2019. All proposals must be submitted online. Before you submit your proposal, please note that AFPECI is unable to pay presenters, but can offer a $25 discount on conference registration. Presentation Proposal Review
Presentations will be selected by the Development Day Committee and will be final. Applications from those with the CFRE, ACFRE or other related professional certifications and AFP members are especially encouraged. Successful presentation proposals will:

  • Contribute to AFP’s commitment to fostering community involvement, partnerships, outreach, stewardship, and/or education.
  • Provide a plan that clearly shows how the presenter(s) intend to actively engage the target audience during the session. 
  • Have session objectives that are clearly specified and achievable for the length of the proposed session.


NOTE:
 Consultants and vendors who want to share their expertise without sales promotion are also welcome to respond to the RFP. Our preference is that the consultant or vendor partner with at least one donor, non-profit organization staff member, or fundraising volunteer to develop and present the workshop, and refrain from promoting products or services.  

 
Key Proposal Process Dates

  • Proposal submission deadline: Friday, March 1, 2019
  • Presenters notified of acceptance by: Friday, March 8, 2019
  • Presenters confirm agreement to present by: Friday, March 15, 2019
  • Presenters’ logos, bios, and all workshop copy finalized by: Friday, April 1, 2019


Proposal Submission Guidelines

When developing your proposal, please keep in mind that the conference offers sessions of interest to novice, intermediate, and experienced participants. We want to make sure that everyone is engaged and excited. We also want to see you “practice what you preach,” so please be creative in designing a presentation that fully involves participants through role playing, discussion, questions, interactive exercises, or other engaging activities when possible. 

Panels are encouraged where appropriate. However, panels should be limited to four (4) members.

Session Length:
 60 minutes each – please leave time for questions at the end. We will try to accommodate special requests for presentation times, but this may not be possible.

Audio-Visual Equipment and Handouts: Presenters needing audio-visual equipment must bring their own laptops and indicate if a LCD projector is needed. If additional equipment is needed, please note your equipment request on the application form. Each presenter should make their materials “electronic friendly” so that they can be available to distribute electronically and online. Presenters should submit details of audio-visual equipment needs as part of their proposals.  Handout materials for electronic distribution, including slide presentations, are due by May 24, 2019. Please note that you are responsible for producing any handouts you would like to make available in hard copy at your session.

Presenter Registration: All presenters and co-presenters who want to attend any part of the conference other than their session must register for the conference once the online registration is available. Presenters and co-presenters will be notified by email when the online conference registration is open and be provided with a coupon code for their discount registration. 

If more than one presenter is involved, the lead presenter should be identified as the contact. However, all required information about the professional qualifications, experience, evaluations, and references should be furnished for ALL presenters included in the proposal.
