About Us
AFP of East Central Illinois
The Association of Fundraising Professionals, East Central Illinois Chapter is a regional chapter serving the Champaign-Urbana, Danville, Mattoon, Charleston, Effingham, and Decatur communities in East Central Illinois. We host regular educational networking events on a variety of topics related to fundraising and advancement. Our board of directors is a dedicated group of fundraising professionals from a cross-section of the local non-profit community.
AFP advances philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising. The core activities through which AFP fulfills this mission include education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing and advocacy.
AFP is committed to excellence in providing the highest quality services and products for our members and other constituents. We are responsive to their needs and strive to exceed expectations.
As one of 220 chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the East Central Illinois Chapter’s mission is to advance fundraising and philanthropy throughout the Central Illinois communities of:
Champaign-Urbana, Danville, Charleston, Mattoon, Effingham and Decatur.
We welcome all individuals who are interested and involved in fundraising. Chapter members represent a broad spectrum of professional experience and many area organizations. Non-members are welcome to attend chapter programs and events.

History of the Association of Fundraising Professionals
In 1960, three fundraisers met for lunch in New York City to discuss an idea they had been toying with for a while: creating an association for charitable fundraisers. Therein lies the beginning of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
